Running & Winning
Tuesday, September 30, 2025 | Each year, in the fall, LWVGT conducts Running & Winning, a one-day workshop for junior and senior girls at a Tucson area high school. Running & Winning aims to foster participants’ leadership skills and interest in public service. The students have a unique opportunity to learn from women who have served as elected officials. After round table discussions with elected officials, the students begin working groups. They are tasked with planning a campaign and participating in a mock election. The American Association of University Women and Southwest Gas co-sponsored the event. | | | Tucson Mayor Regina Romero was one of eleven elected officials who engaged with the group of students. | | Everyone who participated in Running & Winning.
| | |
From the Cholla High School newsletter: "Forty nine students spent the day learning valuable leadership skills, building confidence, and gaining unique insights from local elected officials. The event was not only educational but truly empowering—leaving a lasting impact on everyone who attended. It was a day filled with inspiration, motivation, and the reminder that the next generation of women leaders is already stepping into their power." | Communications Committee

We need sponsors!
You can help us find them. | | We're Looking for Sponsors!*
Issues & Eggs Breakfast Forum is our only annual fundraiser and enables us to maintain valuable programs and services. Without the generous support of sponsors we would not be able to bring this important event to the LWVGT community and continue our programs.
Do you know of a company, corporation, or organization that the Issue & Eggs Sponsorship Committee should contact? If so, can you provide us with specific contact information (name and email)? There are varying levels of sponsorship and we have a letter ready to send to potential sponsors.
Send your list of potential sponsors to fundraising@lwvtucson.com

| | | League members and the public can find the most recent reports HERE.
Observer Corps volunteers observe the meetings of local public governing bodies and then submit a brief report which is shared on the LWVGT website. The objective is to ensure transparency in government and keep League members, and the public, informed about the issues and actions of local government that impact our lives.
What does it mean to join?
Observer Corps volunteers do not speak at public meetings unless requesting clarification, and they are not spokespersons for the League. The time commitment is about 4-6 hours per month. It's up to you whether to attend meetings in person, attend remotely, or view a recording. There is one form to fill out and it will be uploaded for you.
Do you regularly attend or view recordings of a public governing body of interest to LWVGT and our policy positions? If not, now is a great time to start. If you have questions about volunteering for this vital service, contact us.
